Zakimijō site in #okinawa.

#Okinawa Post 1. (World Heritage Site).
I'm compiling some info on posts regarding Okinawa this week and for the following week. This is a small contribution of mine and as a goodwill tribute to Okinawa in general and Shuri-jo castle that was tragically burnt to the ground by fire recently.
The sources are from my own personal diary, some snippets from Japan's magazine and Japan-Guide website.
The Zakimi Castle Ruins (座喜味城跡,
Zakimijō-ato are located on a hill in central Okinawa Honto, not far from Cape Zampa. Only the stone walls remain, which visitors can ascend for good views over the ruins and the surrounding area and as far as Shuri Castle and Naha Port in the distance.
The castle was built around 1420 during a period of war for the purpose of tracking forces hostile to the king. The castle itself is small, but it's stone walls and beautifully detailed gates are a rare historical benchmark for the high technical skills of the period's stoneworkers.
Address : 708-6 Zakimi, 読谷村 Yomitan, Nakagami District, Okinawa 904-0301.
